Liturgical Chants Section
This section is dedicated to building a collection of melodies organised by liturgical function rather than by tone or feast. It brings together music for different parts of the services, each serving a specific role in the liturgy.
The collection includes litany responses; repeated petitions such as Lord, have mercy, sung twelve or forty times; fixed Vespers stichera; O Gladsome Light (Gentle Light); and music for the Divine Liturgy, including Cherubic Hymns. These melodies are designed to support the text and work effectively whether sung by a single voice or a small choir.
The chants are presented in two formats: standard notation (simplified Obikhod style, with melody and ison only) and pointed notation (see the Digital Pointed Notation Guide).
The section is being developed gradually, with new collections added as they are notated and prepared for publication. Announcements about new additions to Liturgical Chants are posted below.
